Holy crap, this class was difficult. There’s a ton of material to learn - 49 lessons worth. The Hawkes portal is dry but I was able to pick up the concepts from watching the problem solving videos. After a few days, I decided to take the PA to see where I stood.
I failed it, of course, but it provided some insight on what I needed to study. Based on some reddit posts, I decided to change strategies a bit and just study the questions on the PA. It took me a few more days to get the formulas down and, after which, I retook the PA. This time I passed with 87%.
Not wanting to forget anything, I scheduled the OA for a few hours later and passed it with an 85%.
Do the Hawkes material to learn the concepts (it’s been 30 years since I did high level math), then take the PA. Abandon Hawkes and just study the PA. Also, buy a scientific calculator. I got the Casio fx-115es Plus. It worked great. It has the formulas for slope, y-intercept, quadratic equations, and more. $14 on Amazon. Money well spent.
This class should be more than 4 credits. It’s awful.
