This was a fairly simple writing course consisting of 3 papers to write. The first task consists of completing an Ethical Lens Inventory from a questionnaire link provided. In addition to the ELI, this task also includes an ethical dilemma analysis of either someone personal or someone famous. I just chose a historical leader confronted with a well-known ethical dilemma and wrote a few pages about that. The task also involved some discussion of moral and cognitive development which was fairly simple to follow through in the reading material. The final portion was a self-reflection of the ELI. Pretty simple stuff. I took about 8 hours to write this paper which ultimately ended up 8 pages long.
The second task involved writing about ethical leadership at the organizational level. I chose a few ethical dilemmas I experienced at my workplace involving senior leadership and provided a couple solutions that would have resolved the issue had they been implemented. The task also involved creating an ethical framework for a fictional organization and discussing training methods involved. This was another simple paper which also took just about 8 hours to write and was 8 pages long.
The third task involved choosing a code of conduct from a list of organizations (provided by WGU) and analyze it for corporate social responsibility, legal mandates, and reporting methodologies. This was probably the simplest task because all of the info is provided in the organization’s code and just needed to be parsed out. The task also included some analysis on the Dodd-Frank Wall Street act and its advantages/disadvantages as well as some discussion on sentencing guidelines for ethical offenders who have been exposed by whistleblowers. This paper took me less than 8 hours to write and 9 pages long.
Now on to the final course of the program: the capstone!
